You have a message about your company or service, you know what you want to say, but you just can’t work out how to say it.  You are going around is circles…………feels familiar…………?

Try these four remedies.  They won’t give you perfect copy, but they will help order your thoughts.  This is the important first step to captivating copy.

  1. Walk away – literally. Give yourself a change of scene or body position, even for a few minutes.   This change of dynamic might just get you going.
  2. Talk out loud to yourself. If you hear your ideas out loud, it can help organise them and commit them to paper.
  3. Grab a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil and write down random words and bullet points. Classify the words/phrase/doodles into themes, types, or whatever category you choose.  This will help order your thoughts.
  4. Gabble out your ideas to a friend or colleague. Ask them to tell your ideas back to you.  Are they reflecting what you wanted to say?  Is it what you want to hear?  If it is, jot it down in bullet points.  If it isn’t, keep gabbling until you are happy that the feedback given reflects what you wanted to say.
